Invitation to Alumni Heartstrings Day 2013!

Dear Alumnus and Friends of the Ping Yi Alumni,
We are pleased to invite you to our annual Alumni Heartstrings Day 2013 on 31 Aug 2013. The Heartstrings Day is an annual event organized by the alumni to achieve the following objectives:

1)      To provide a platform for the alumni members to stay connected.
2)      To enhance Ping Yians’ awareness of the alumni.
3)      To make a difference to the lives of the underprivileged students.

With these objectives in mind, we would like to invite you to participate in our Heartstrings Day. Our alumni members, some of whom have benefited from the first Alumni Heartstrings Day in 2007 are coming back to co-organise a day of fun filled activities. The highlight of the day will be a learning journey to Ngee Ann Poly's Dialogue in the Dark where the participants will get to experience the world of a blind person and get to move around in total darkness before ending the day with a 3 course lunch in the dark too!.

What:         Alumni Heartstrings Day 2013
When:        31 Aug 13 (Sat) - 0830hrs to 1430hrs
Where:       Assemble at Ping Yi Sec Sch – 2 way transport will be provided
Who:          Alumni members, teachers, parents and 25 selected 
                  secondary one students on financial assistance.
How much: $25 per pax (including transport and lunch)

Sponsors: 
As the alumni is operating on a self funding basis, we would like to appeal for kind sponsors who are willing to sponsor the students on financial assistance. The alumni would like to take this opportunity to thank our generous donors who have supported us over the years and it is through your generosity that we are able to sustain the alumni’s efforts to reach out to the underprivileged students of our alma mater.

Invitation to PYSS Open house, Carnival and Alumni Gathering 2012!


Open House and School Carnival 2012

You are cordially invited to our annual Open House and Carnival 2012 on 3 Nov 12 (Sat) from 0900-1200 noon. It promises to be a fun-filled day with lots of activities, games and delicious food for you and your family. It is also a great opportunity for you to catch up with the latest happenings in Ping Yi.


Alumni Gathering 2012

Since 2009, we have organised alumni gatherings through our annual dinner. This year, we are proposing something different. From the feedback collated from the past events, we have decided to organise a lunch gathering instead. It will be held in the School after the Carnival at 12 noon. It will be a get together over a simple lunch as we reminisce our days as Ping Yians. 

For those of you who are intending to organise a class gathering and have not done so, this is an excellent chance for you to arrange one. Tickets for the gathering are priced at $5 per adult and $3 per child (below 12 yrs) to cover the cost of lunch.

Alumni Heartstrings Day 2012

Organized since 2007, the Alumni Heartstrings Day (this is the 6th year running) is an annual event by  the Ping Yi Alumni to engage a group of secondary one students. This is the second year that a community involvement element was added to allow the alumni and the students to reach out to the elderly community in the Chai Chee neighbourhood. 

 The Alumni Heartstrings Day activities included a series of team bonding activities conducted by alumni members, some of whom were participants from the 2007 Heartstrings Day. The alumni members also conducted a workshop on “STOMP” for the participants. After the workshop, the students were treated to a sumptuous lunch at Manhattan Fish Market in Bugis. 

 On 22 Sep 12 (Sat), members of the alumni and the same group of secondary one students brought joy and laughter to 60 elderly folks from the Senior Activity Centre in Chai Chee. The students transferred their learning by choreographing a STOMP performance for the audience. In addition, the elderly were treated to a STOMP performance by the alumni members and a rendition of songs by Junior Chew from the Class of 2011.
