Organized since 2007, the Alumni Heartstrings Day (this is the 6th year running) is an annual event by the Ping Yi Alumni to engage a group of secondary one students. This is the second year that a community involvement element was added to allow the alumni and the students to reach out to the elderly community in the Chai Chee neighbourhood.
The Alumni Heartstrings Day activities included a series of team bonding activities conducted by alumni members, some of whom were participants from the 2007 Heartstrings Day. The alumni members also conducted a workshop on “STOMP” for the participants. After the workshop, the students were treated to a sumptuous lunch at Manhattan Fish Market in Bugis.
On 22 Sep 12 (Sat), members of the alumni and the same group of secondary one students brought joy and laughter to 60 elderly folks from the Senior Activity Centre in Chai Chee. The students transferred their learning by choreographing a STOMP performance for the audience. In addition, the elderly were treated to a STOMP performance by the alumni members and a rendition of songs by Junior Chew from the Class of 2011.
